There is a new swing trainer on the market “Lag Shot” that will theoretically make most anyone a better player.
The Lag Shot is apparently a club or set of clubs that one would use to practice with to improve the tempo of one’s swing and promote the optimal point where one would release for maximum club speed through the ball.
Their website is lagshot.com. At first look this appears to be a really good answer for many golfers if it in fact does what it says it does, and there is no reason to believe that it will not.
However, swinging a weighted practice club is not the same as using ones own equipment. Differences may include the size of the grip, the length of the club, and especially the weight.
All of these and potentially other faults will make it difficult to bring the practice swing to the golf course.

Weighted golf trainers have been around a long time, but mostly used for warming up rather than honing a swing into perfection. Most of us veteran golfers have tried them at one time or another, and they have some practicality. Their biggest fault is that it is not your club but just a weighted club.
While we are talking about training systems, there is a system called ARCCOS that is used to automatically track and record your shots on the course, so you can see how far you actually hit each of your clubs.
Arccos uses a small device that fits into one’s putter grip on apparently all clubs and tracks the length and accuracy of every club in your bag. I believe that it keeps a database of information about every shot from every club in your bag.
Distance and direction are important to golfers at any level. We all certainly need to know how far each club goes and in general what direction.n
The flaw in this information, at least for most of us, would be when we have mishits and they are added to the database. For instance one may hit their 1st drive 250 yards and 20 yards right, their second 200 yards and 20 yards left, and their 3rd 190 yards down the middle.
This would give you a statistical average drive of a 213-yard drive that is always in the middle of the fairway. Thus you may be tracking your drives, but this does not do much to tell you what you need to know to improve your swing.
Does it do a good job of tracking? Most likely yes. Does it do a good job of training? Absolutely not.
The OnePuttPro™ is the only device that you can use on your own putter, and eventually any club, to actually see and learn what your stroke looks like. Add its statistical database that will afford one the ability to make better strokes and improve on whatever it is that needs improving and you have a complete visual training aid.
OnePuttPro™ is easy to use too. Just snap it onto your personal putter and watch your stroke. Not only is it good on the putting green but it’s invaluable as an aid to help pick a new putter. It also keeps a database of five metrics of your putting stroke, which you can review instantly.
